Communications and Updates:
None.

Chair Report:
Laura Fitzgerald-Kemmett gave the chair report:

  • Reminder to get all invoices in by the end of the fiscal year—June 30.

  • Discussed the signage for the Thomas Mill project.  In addition to ZBA approval will need Conservation approval so will take a little longer.  Discussed getting temporary signs similar to political signs and/or banners.
  • Discussed the Camp Kiwanee Firehouse Project.  Phil Lindquist and John Kemmett met with Al Hanscom from Beta, Inc, the town administrator and David Blauss.  All work done by Beta to this point has now been paid which is close to $6,000.  We have not authorized any addition work; we have $5,000 available, pending direction from David Blauss or the Recreation Committee.
  • Discussed the Robbins property.   Decided to stay with our original plan of not voting on projects this session.  A quick review of the project was that the asking price was extremely high for the property in question.
  • Discussed the property on South Street.  Decided to stay with our original plan of not voting on projects this session.  A quick review of the project was that the asking price was extremely high for the property in question.
  • Discussed the historical buildings project.  Alan was waiting until the annual town meeting was finalized before moving forward.  Now that the annual town meeting is complete, the chimney person is ready to go and he is talking to the clapboard person and the school for their input.

Old Business
John Kemmett discussed the status of the signs
New Business
Laura discussed the need to continually market the committee and discussed three opportunities to do so.
  • Bob Hayes now has a cable interview program where he discusses issues of the town.  This will make a great forum to get our message out to the town.  It was voted 7-0 to have a sub-committee of Bob Sears, Bill Clay, Laura Fitzgerald-Kemmett and Alan Clemons to meet with Bob and hopefully schedule a slot on the show.
  • A brochure about the committee and the projects we have done to date will be helpful.  Bill Clay offered the services of a marketing intern working at his company in designing the brochure.
  • It was noted that many CPC’s have their own website.  Rather than pay for this service it was decided to first go through the High School through, technology teacher, Bob Rodgers, to see is this is a project they would like to take on.
Yearly Reorganization of the committee.   Decided to put off to next meeting when everyone is there.
Discussed maintenance of the Thomas Mill Site.  It is under the control and direction of the conservation committee.  They can delegate to the Thomas Mill Committee or the Friends of the Thomas Mill Committee.  In the meantime in order to give the conservation committee an idea of the cost to maintain the location, Bill Clay was asked to get and estimate from a landscape company to do so.
Adjournment:
Next meeting is July 20th; voted to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 PM.
